Tilak Maharashtra University (TMU) was established in 1921 in memory of great reformist Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. TMU is one of the oldest educational institute's in India. Since inception TMU has its prime objective of imparting national education, to improve the teaching techniques as well as to support research activities in the various fields and also to focus on non-conventional educational aids. Considering the significant efforts made by the University, The Govt. of India has awarded deemed Status in April 1987.

      All the departments of this University are well known at National & International Levels. All departments have established themselves in the academic world both for their quality research work and the innovative and creative activities. These include the Indology course of Sanskrit Dept. and the Career Clinic of Ayurveda Dept. Similarly, the Social Sciences Department is acclaimed for its distinct interdisciplinary feature.

      Looking at the Globalization and changing trends in the field of higher education, TMU is well prepared to provide courses in faculties right from Ayurveda & Sanskrit to Library Science, Computer to Management as well as Information Technology Courses, Foreign Language & Television Production, Social Work and Food Craft Courses etc.

      They have established their own reputation all over India and wish to bring the world closer by providing additional infrastructural facilities to both Indian and Foreign students, Intranet and Internet facilities are available on campus. They believe in "Job creative education system."
